RUSH PHARI TREK

10 days 9 nights

ex-Islamabad

Rush Phari is a turquoise lake on a ridge between Hispar Valley and the Barpu Glacier.  This trek offers an incredible panoramic view; especially from the 5,098m Rush Peak one can have a 360° view that almost includes all the main peaks in the Hunza/Nagar region.  Distant eastward views of the 8,611m K2, 8,047m Broad Peak and 7,925m Gasherbrum- IV; and views to the northeast in the Hispar Muztagh massif which includes peaks like the Lupgar Sar 7,200m, Momhil Sar 7,343m, Trivor 7,728m, Mulungutti Sar 7,025m and Distaghil Sar at 7,885m add to the magnificence of this relatively short trek.  Its pure indulgence in the marvel of nature…. totally awe-inspiring mountain panorama! 

 

SKETCH ITINERARY

Day

01        Pick up from Islamabad airport and transfer to hotel.

02        Pick up from hotel at 6.30am and drive on the Karakoram Highway, to Chilas (525km – around 11+ hours – altitude 1,200m).  Overnight at Panorama Hotel, Chilas.  (B/fast, L & D)

03        Chilas to Gilgit and later on to Karimabad, Hunza (260km – around 6 hours – altitude 2,280m).  Walking tour of Baltit Fort and Karimabad village.  Overnight at Hill Top Hotel. (B/fast, L & D)

04        Sunrise excursion by jeep to Duiker viewpoint with breakfast taken at Eagle’s Nest Hotel at Duiker. Return to visit Altit village and later drive by jeep to Hoper (1-1 ½ hrs – altitude 2,790m). Overnight at Camp. (B/Fast, L with Dinner prepared by camp cook)

05        Trek to Bericho Kor ( 5-6 hours, altitude 3,300m).  Overnight at camp. (B/fast, L and Dinner)

06        Trek to Chidin Harai (4-6 hrs altitude 4,440m) and continue Trek to Rush Phari (1-2 hours, altitude 4,694m).  Overnight at Camp. (B/fast, L and Dinner)

07        Trek to the 5,098m Rush Peak and later return to overnight at camp.  (B/fast, L and Dinner)

08        Trek to Gutense (3-4 hours – altitude 2,800m) and overnight at camp.  (B/fast, L and Dinner)

09        Trek to Huru with it’s apricot orchard, spring and clear willow shaded pool (2-3 hours – altitude 2,972m) and drive by jeep to Hunza and continue down to Gilgit.  Overnight at Riveria Hotel, Gilgit.  *Time permitting an excursion to Kargah Buddha can be done at Gilgit.  (B/fast, L and Dinner)

10        According to the flight reconfirmation the previous day (note: flight subject to weather and -reconfirmation which is given 20 hours prior to departure).  P.I.A. Gilgit only then advises on which flight you are permitted to travel; transfer to the airport in time for flight to Islamabad.  The flight itself is a treat as one gets amazing views of the Haramosh Peaks, Nanga Parbat and then the alpine lakes as it flies over the Kaghan Valley.  On arrival you will be transferred back to your respective residence/hotel in Islamabad.  End of services.

 

If the Gilgit / Islamabad flight is cancelled, the group will return to Islamabad by road the same day (665km – 14 hours at least) OR with an overnight stop enroute, at PTDC Motel Besham (366km, 8 hours to Besham and around 299km, 6 hours from Besham to Islamabad) –  extra costs would be incurred and an invoice prepared for the extra costs/services, less full refund of the budgeted airfare (for members and guide) and airport / residence transfer in Islamabad.
